Welcome to Social Media Sistas. I created this quick guide to help you navigate the SMS Website.

Updating Your Profile:
All New Members are added to the Members Page. If you click on your name, it will take your to your mini-bio page. To update your mini-bio click here or once you login to your member dashboard area, click the ‘profile link’. There you can update your email, website url, bio, links, etc.

Adding a Profile Photo:
All profile images are pulled from gravatar.com. If you don’t already have one, create a free gravatar acount. There you can upload your desired profile images and add multiple email accounts. Please note that the avatar image must be associated to the email address used for your SMS account.

Submitting Articles:
You can click here to create a new post or click the ‘Posts’ link in the member dashboard area. All posts must be approved before they are published. You can upload photos. To add a preview photo to your post click the grey box icon to Upload/Insert ‘Add an image’. Once your image has been uploaded, copy the file url. Just below the text box to add your article, you will see another box labled ‘custom fields’. From the drop down menu select the ‘image’ option and add the image url to the ‘value’ box, then click the button ‘add new custom field. Your preview photos must be 350×200 pixels in size.

Submission Guidelines
The Objective of the SMS Network is to provide you with a place to repost and/or promote your articles. Please refrain from posting content that is primarily for promotional purposes. Each article you post includes an ‘About the Author’ section at the bottom in which you can promote yourself and or website.

Article Posts:

1. Your post must be relevant to Women of Color in one of the designated categories
2. 3 Paragraph Minimum
3. Article Type: Review, Commentary, How-To, News

Video Posts:
At this time members can not embed video. If you want to add video to your article, simply add this tag [VIDEO] and then include a link to your video. When reviewing your post, I can embed the video if the embed code is available on the video website. For video posts you can include an article, but at minimum, a brief description is required.
